You've Got to Feel Your Lines (Color is a Beautiful Thing)
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, nor is there male of female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Galations 3:28
A line of inquiry that has fascinates me is the study of light. I was surprised to learn via a course in introductory astronomy, that all we know about the universe begins with the study of light such as the light reflected from a star. If a star is composed of certain types of gases, this composition can be detected by the colour of light it is emitting. This can be measured on a very simple tool called a light spectrometer. Through this method, the cosmos reveal a lot about themselves. Light is a very important part of this world, but we don't seem to stop and think about it much. However, the most striking aspect of the recent solar eclipse we experienced was when the sun was fully hidden from the earth (for however many seconds) there was a noticeable decline in temperature (for obvious reasons) and a bone chilling coldness set in almost immediately. It reminded me of the kind of cold I felt when I went to a cemetery once, and it seemed like I must have fallen into the grip of a ghost because everything within and without of my body turned to ice for a moment. The lack of sunlight felt the same. If you cast different colours of light upon your own skin, it will change colour. Therefore? Racism is absurd to its core.
A rainbow is supposed to be a representation of God's promise after a heavy rain, that he will never flood the earth again like he did in the time of Noah and the Ark. A rainbow is merely refracted light from the sun, passing through rain like a prism. Despite the scientific explanation of what comprises a rainbow, it is still a beautiful thing to see and if it does indeed represent a promise from God, it is a marvellous one. I love rainbows.
So, in my personal estimation, it seems apt the a rainbow represents the LGBTQ+ community as there are many shades to our humanity. I've heard many self-proclaimed Christians get awfully offended by this, however. I don't think many really know what is really going on, though. In my view, personally, I wonder if we are perhaps merging into the realms of the new heaven and the new earth, as crazy as that may sound, and while some folks believe they need to obliterate anything that doesn't represent that classic male-female binary as good and proper "Christians", I am here to say that it is the rainbow itself that offers a little insight to the spectrum of diversity this planet is teaming with and anyone who wants to streamline that diversity into a more simple mathematic equation is leaving the one true GOD out of the equation. I say this because it didn't take me long to realize what a magnificent planet we have here, after studying astronomy and the influence light has on everything.
For example, our atmosphere is designed in such a way that it is seems to be tailor-made to sustain life while protecting us from radiation from the sun and a myriad of other harsh space stuff. A Creator who only thinks in a linear fashion might not have had the wherewithal to create such dynamics, but our planet was created with a TON of wherewithal. We forget how marvellous Earth really is because we are so focused on worrying about adhering to binaries such as male versus female or black versus white. After the things that have happened to me, in regards to tapping into a certain type of heartbeat-like rhythm of the planet, I feel we would do well to open our minds and observe the signs. I don't think God is going to whisk us away to some other realm somewhere, I think what God is going to do is gradually bring us to the awareness that the Earth is all there is and all we will ever need and eventually, the veil that separates spirit from physicality will lift and we will be reunited with our loved-ones in spirit and our flesh will become spirit as well, eventually, and the Earth is where this will happen. Merging from flesh to spirit will (and does) happen to us all. I guess the only thing, under the pretence of this theory, is to worry about the trajectory of your spirit. Hell is supposedly a real place where you can end up if you're not careful, and what if Hell is just a vibrational trajectory? Whatever the case may be, I think I found a way to upturn a lot of these suppositions without being utterly blasphemous to the concepts set forth in the Bible. Let me try to explain myself.
As stated before, I tapped into a heartbeat type rhythm when I was at a pique of some sort of transcendental episode, which one of my children described as "manic". My mom says I had a god-given vision, sort of like a prophecy, but I do not know what to call it. To complicate matters further, the dear, sweet, beloved Manuel Gagneux suggested to me that the episode was induced by a drugging incident from my ex-husband, which is certainly plausible, but very murky territory as far as legal ramifications go and only he and my ex-husband know the truth on that score AND there's very few methods by which Mr. Gagneux would be privileged with such information. He also told me, at that time, that my ex-husband was cheating on me (and he even gave me a the name of the "other woman' but that is another story for another day) (clue). I couldn't say for sure because I simply do not know. Nevertheless, I have to admit something happened to me in 2020 which opened my eyes and ears to a world of information that seems to direct me in a Northward tack towards home, in a practical sense and to a concept of a new heaven and a new earth, in a metaphysical sense, right under our feet. The song Central by John Frusciante is about this concept–far off worlds are right under our feet, as the lyrics go. As for me, all I know is I could hear a lot of drumming, coming from out of nowhere and its rhythm was like a heartbeat and at the time, I was sure it was the heartbeat of the Earth itself, but until just two days ago, I wasn't sure if the Earth had a heartbeat, per se, but it turns out that it DOES and it is measurable and observable (this catfishing theory is getting weaker by the day, wouldn't you say, friends?). I am glad this information has come to light because it corroborates my experience perfectly. You can read more about that HERE. So it was this heartbeat rhythm that caused me to delve into an exploration of music that has lasted for years now. I heard this pattern in the songs I am attracted to, it dovetails nicely with the similarities I've discovered in numerous songs and it has lead me to some pretty wild conclusions.
I started my journey over in Switzerland, being immediately pulled into the music of Zeal and Ardor due to the sound of chains in one song in particular called Devil is Fine. I was offended by the song's premise for reasons I've already explained to some extent HERE. Love it or hate it, the song has that rhythm I am speaking of. I don't know the jargon to explain what I mean. It's just this steady beat and it seemed like something literally rose up in my blood to cause me to hear the heartbeat of the earth itself once I tapped into it, while being pulled into a sort of dance with this beat. I had no other choice but to sink down into this investigation because it seemed to represent the very framework by which I had built my little house of cards. By that I mean it represents the bones of the structure that comprised imaginary world I used to dwell in, in my mind, through the channels of music. This is a coping mechanism I developed as a child due to the grief of my father's death.
When Mr Gagneux crashed into my world, he completely annihilated this little world I had built and the proverbial cards went flying every which way. But, I managed to pull myself together, after a while, and can now regurgitate this story back to you, dear reader. But I followed this pattern through song after song, relentlessly. I spent hours upon hours upon hours of my life looking for it, and step-by-step (literally) managed to heal my very broken heart in the process, which is a bonus.
However, the discovery I made is no small thing. It gives me moments of intense pause. Something is definitely afoot here and I can prove it.
As I said, I started the investigation with music coming out of the region of Switzerland and followed it through hundreds of songs, if not thousands. When it appears, it coincides with a variety of things including lyrical content that represents a story in and of itself so I will write about that at another time, but suffice it to say, the narrative is vast and it all points to the same conclusion.
Miraculously, it was this investigation that lead me to the music of Jeremy Dutcher, who is one of the most important artists in Canada, if not elsewhere, at the moment. And rightly so. When I stumbled upon his music, all the pieces of this enormous puzzle fell into place in very surprising ways. This beat shows up in Jeremy's Honor Song in a way that mirrors the Zeal and Ardor song Devil is Fine (as mentioned earlier) only this beat, pattern, or whatever you want to call it, holds equal and directly opposite meaning. How is this even possible? It really amazed me because Dutcher is from the same province I am from, he is from the same branch of Indigenous heritage my family is connected to on my mother's side AND his music is derived from wax recordings persevered from the 1800s where the songs from the Indigenous Peoples of our region where captured by an anthropologist. So, in this equation we have a stunning amount of things coalescing all at once. Gagneux and I have had a mutual attraction from the start, but I didn't realize why. I now know that it was aspect of his song that seemed to awaken something in me and made my very blood cells jump to attention and it a linear design that is no mere coincidence, I researched this component of his music and the trail lead me directly to Dutcher's music, in the end. And this lead me to discover my own heritage and this discovery represents a unification from one generation to the next, one genre to the next, one language to the next, one musician to the next, and so on.
The language of the Wolastoqey First Nations (and surrounding regions) which Dutcher is revitalizing with his music, is 12,000 years old. In comparison, according to Google, the Greek language (said to be the oldest known language in the world) is around 3,500 years old and Hebrew is around 3,000 years old. Latin is around 2,700 years old. What does this tell you? I know what it tells me, aside from the fact that the history books are ALL WRONG.
So what does it all mean? Well, to put it as generally as I am able to, it means we are united because we are sentient human beings. We were never meant to be compartmentalized by the colour of our skin or the place in which we are born. Mother Earth's heartbeat connects us all through the vibrational imprints it creates, let alone that of our own heartbeat. And if you take religion and politics out of the equation, a story of unity so vast and so finite starts to emerge, providing the clarity we need as a global society.
I am assuming Gagneux and Dutcher wrote their music from a place of sincerity within their own hearts and minds and points of reference in terms of the broader picture. Gagneux tackles the extremely damaging and problematic aspects of American Slavery with that one sound, which he incorporated into one of his most popular songs, but it shows up in his other songs too. Dutcher's song provides equally powerful commentary of the plight of our Indigenous Peoples here in North America with that sound. Neither artist promotes the idea of Christianity, but they ended up creating commentary on that theme nonetheless because of someone like me, who comes along as experiences these correlations in a very deeply personal way. This journey has not only saved my life, but given me a place and a purpose in this world that formerly eluded me. I used to feel so utterly lost, but not anymore. I found where I belong and I found my way back home. This planet is my home and this planet is also your home. We are all ONE.
So when it comes to the new heaven and the new earth, it seems to be the the Bible itself suggests we do away with binary concepts and instead, see ourselves as one, through the love of Jesus Christ. I know I lose about half my audience when I start to offer phrases like that, which we've all heard ad nauseam and unfortunately, its the self-proclaimed Christians who have given the whole thing a very very bad name (let me remind you of the horror of Residential Schools, for example). Nonetheless, the Earth still has a heartbeat and so do you and I. It emits an electric pulse with every beat. This pulse effects the vibrational landscape and that vibrational landscape is also called the Unified Field. It's this unified field that we are influenced by, day to day, moment to moment, in every aspect of our lives. We are all connected. We are all one.
Dutcher represents the LGBTQ+ folks and he does it well. He wears his pride with, well, pride. He celebrates the concept of a two-spirited person, which is a concept that is part of the fabric of our Indigenous belief systems and has been for thousands of years. It is nothing new. It's not some new wave of debauchery that has shown up on the scene like a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. It's not about SIN or evil or badness. It's about the diversity of humanity, which mirrors the diversity of our planet and if you remove the preconceived idealisms in terms of what Christians feel they know about what is "right" versus what is "wrong" we might be able to see that we are entering an era where it doesn't really matter what your gender is, or your socio-economic status, or the colour of your skin. When it comes to being a human being on this marvellously designed planet of ours, let me say it again; we are ONE. We are so intertwined, as a matter of fact, that if you peel back the layers and look a little deeper into everything, you will see, as I have, that's its the thing that causes division amongst us that is EVIL. Anything that causes separation is truly evil. Anything that generates connectedness is GOOD. And when you are able to see that very simple equation bear its fruit, it's pretty easy to see who is actually the ones causing the problems and it is not anyone out there flying the rainbow flag, for example. Rather, it's the ones who want to erase anyone who doesn't line up with this myriad of binary expectations, which is an abomination to all that this earth ACTUALLY is. This Earth was designed by a creator who loves variety, diversity, and colour. All we know about the entire universe, we know because of its colours.
I am reminded yet again of a Nina Simone song. It's called Color is a Beautiful Thing and I would like to remind everyone of that. Colour is indeed a beautiful thing and in case you didn't realize it, the Republican regime at work in the United States and elsewhere is trying to erase colour from the palette of humanity. Back in the days of WWII, we had a simple term from that: Nazi. It represents a spirit of evil of alarmingly gross proportions and it has come back to haunt us. We must fight it and send it back to hell where it belongs. If you need a little encouragement as to where you stand in the midst of it all, then consider these songs and the meaning behind them as well as the utterly miraculous ways in which all of this has come together for someone like me in order for me to tell the story.
With all of this in mind, perhaps you will see why I chose to forgive Gagneux for compromising my privacy. I don't think he could have predicted all of this would come out of our experience, but here we are. We are all gears in a larger mechanism and that mechanism seems to be designed to bring us to the awareness of the need for unification on a planet designed for us to thrive. This Earth is our home and our mother and our mother loves us all, very much. Anything that stands in the way of bringing us together will be cut down and cast into the fire because the vibrational pull of all that has good swayed things long ago, in irreversible ways and I will also talk about that at another time.
Dots can be connected which lead to the godliness of unification versus the evil of separation and the reason I feel this is a message that matters is due to what is happening the United States, Gaza, and many other places around the world. It's like there's a beast roaming the planet, hungry for blood, so we must take a stand against it, we've seen this all before. Anything that tries to tear us apart needs to be swiftly cut down and music is the grease that turns the wheel, the whetstone that sharpens the blade.
Dutcher represents a 12,000 year old language and therefore, an ancient voice, with very real modern-day connections to the avant-garde music of contemporary times as though it was destined to reach through time itself to guide us here and now, at this crucial point in history. We need to not only stand against this tide of hatred, we need to turn it around and send it back to where it came from. You will have to forgive me if I come across as a somewhat passionate about that concept, but I am.
What the odds of all of this if not as complicated and profound as the odds of the Earth existing in the first place, given the size of the universe (which is ever-expanding)? Not to mention how many different things have to come together to allow someone like me to walk this particular path, to observe such a connection in times like these.
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
… You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
